Session 4 : Developing Your Advocacy Goal

(Core Session)

This is a core session of the advocacy training curriculum. The first step in developing an Advocacy Action Plan is for a participant to determine an advocacy goal for their library. This session helps participants learn what an advocacy goal is, how best to develop an advocacy goal, and how their advocacy goal will help them develop an advocacy plan.

  • Script : This customizable script explains advocacy goal-setting and recommends ways to make the content as relevant as possible. It also includes trainer talking points and suggestions for how to deliver the training and activities you could do.
  • PowerPoint Presentation : This PowerPoint provides a visual component to accompany the script and help create an interactive, engaging session. It will help you keep participants’ attention and the session on track.
  • Handouts : Handouts include a customizable “advocacy case study” and tips for creating an advocacy goal.
