Session 10 : Effective Presentations

A successful presentation needs to have interesting and relevant content, and a talented presenter. In this skill-building session, participants will explore their personal presentation style, discuss how to prepare for a presentation, customize a short sample presentation, and practice delivering the sample presentation.

  • Script : This customizable script discusses presentation styles, and how to prepare and deliver an effective presentation. It also recommends ways to make the content as relevant as possible. It also includes trainer talking points and suggestions for how to deliver the training and activities you could do.
  • PowerPoint Presentation : This PowerPoint provides a visual component to accompany the script and help create an interactive, engaging session. It will help you keep participants’ attention and the session on track.
  • Handouts : Handouts include a presentation self-assessment form, a sample presentation, reminder about verbal and nonverbal communication, and tips for delivering a strong presentation. In addition, a sample script is provided, so you can create a video example for the training session.
  • Special Note : This session's presentation includes a video that shows what an effective library presentation can look like. You can view the video below and use the script provided in the handouts to create your own.
